 I am a Contemporary-Traditional- Visual Latina Artist, of Puerto Rican descent.  I was born and raised in the “Big Apple”

Bronx, New York.

(Soy Artista Latina Contemporánea-Tradicional-Visual, de ascendencia puertorriqueña. Nací y crecí en la “Gran Manzana” Bronx, Nueva York.)

     I discovered a passion for the Arts at a very young age.  As a child I intently listened as my father ( Born and raised in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico) played his guitar for countless hours, and how he had the ability to interpret almost any tune through his guitar. 

(Descubrí la pasión por las Artes desde muy joven. De niña escuché atentamente cómo mi padre (nacido y criado en Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico) tocaba su guitarra durante innumerables horas y cómo tenía la capacidad de interpretar casi cualquier melodía a través de su guitarra.)

My Mother ( Born and raised in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico)  had the ability to create almost anything, with a simple spool of thread or yarn through the Art of Crocheting.

(Mi madre (nacida y criada en Aguadilla, Puerto Rico) tenía la habilidad de crear casi cualquier cosa, con un simple carrete de hilo o lana a través del Arte del Ganchillo.)

 

Much like my mother, by the age of 9, I was crocheting and creating beautiful works of art, with threads and yarns myself.  Unlike my father, I wasn’t very successful at keeping a tune on a musical instrument. However, I did discover that I was very good at interpreting music through a very joyful pair of "Happy Feet" and instead I chose to dance.  

(Al igual que mi madre, a la edad de 9 años, yo misma tejía y creaba hermosas obras de arte con hilos de tejer.  A diferencia de mi padre, no tuve mucho éxito en mantener una melodía en un instrumento musical.  Sin embargo, descubrí que si interpretaba la música latina, a través de un par de pies muy alegres y en su lugar opté por bailar.)

By the age of 11, I knew I had a deep interest in the effects of colors, textures, and a strong emotional response to strong composition and design.  Having the ability to create something that told a story without an obvious subject matter was very exciting to me. 

(A la edad de 11 años, sabía que tenía un profundo interés en los efectos de colores, texturas y una fuerte respuesta emocional a la composición y el diseño. Tener la capacidad de crear algo que contara una historia sin un tema obvio siempre fue muy emocionante para mí.)

 It was at this time when I began sketching life forms and portraits of my class mates.  Soon after that, ventured into working with various mediums such as watercolors and basic acrylics. 

(Fue en esta época cuando comencé a dibujar formas de vida y retratos de mis compañeros de clase.  Al poco tiempo incursione en el trabajo con diversos medios como acuarelas y acrílicos básicos y pinturas al óleo.)
